Two of Mozart’s most lasting songs (this and An Chloë, heard in the same concert), were jointly published by Artaria and Co. in Vienna in 1789, under the title Two German Arias to Sing at the Piano. This song had been completed two years earlier to a text by Joachim Heinrich Campe.
