Two of Mozart’s most lasting songs (this and Abendempfindung an Laura, heard in the same concert), were jointly published by Artaria and Co. in Vienna in 1789, under the title Two German Arias to Sing at the Piano. This song has been completed two years early, and is a setting of a text by Johann Georg Jacobi.
