Anne-Marie Cullum (soprano) studied for five years at the Royal College of Music, London both as an undergraduate and postgraduate with Kathleen Livingstone. Most recently she won the Hampshire Singer of the Year competition 2006 adjudicated by Sarah Walker. In November 2000 she was the first singer to win the title of Bath Young Musician of the Year after being a regular winner at the Midsommerset Festival, Bath, throughout her school days.
Opera performances include understudy (Asteria) and chorus for the English Bach Festival’s production of Gluck’s Telemaco at Sadlers Wells and the Herodius Atticus Ampithetre, Athens, and understudy (Clarine) and chorus in Platée by Rameau. Other opera includes chorus for Dialogue des Carmelites (Poulenc), Così fan tutte (Mozart), Die Fledermaus (Strauss) – all for the Benjamin Britten Opera School – and Flashmob – The Opera for BBC3. Oratorio includes Mozart’s Requiem, Faure’s Requiem, Handel’s Dixit Dominus, Bach’s Matthew Passion and B Minor Mass and Schubert’s Mass in G.
She has been the anthem singer for Australia at the rugby at Twickenham in October 2004 and 2005 and for the Australian soccer in Fulham, London. She was also a soloist at Karl Jenkins’ 60th birthday celebrations at the Royal Festival Hall, and she first sang with the Choir of London for the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra’s Christmas concert 2006 conducted by John Rutter.
Recordings include works for film soundtracks The Da Vinci Code, The Kingdom of Heaven and The Chronicles of Narnia, The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe and for the Rock band Nightwish’s new album recorded at Abbey Road Studios as a session singer. She has also recorded works by Giles Swayne and Arvo Pärt and The Armed Man: A Mass for Peace by Karl Jenkins. Other recordings include Walton’s Belshazzar’s Feast conducted by Paul Daniel with the Leeds Philharmonic Orchestra.
She has worked with Richard Hickox at the Endellion Festival and with Bernard Haitink and the RCM Symphony Orchestra performing Mahler’s 2nd Symphony and Bruckner’s Te Deum. Anne-Marie has also worked with up and coming composer Thomas Davey and premièred a number of his works. Forthcoming engagements include Ninfa (Monteverdi’s L’Orfeo) with the English Bach Festival at the Banqueting House in February 2007 and a lunchtime recital with the Winchester Music Festival in summer 2007. She will also be back at Abbey Road singing for Nightwish in the coming months.
