Ben Breakwell (tenor) graduated from Kings College, Cambridge in 2004 and is now based in London where he sings in a number of professional ensembles including the Cambridge Singers and English Voices. He has worked with a range of conductors including René Jacobs, Ivor Bolton, Nicholas Kraemer, and John Rutter.  As a soloist he has made appearances the Munich Opera Festival and Karlsruhe Handel Festival. Recent performances include staged performances of Bach’s St John Passion with Le Concert D’Astrée in Paris, conducted by Emmanuelle Haim. Recent solo engagements include the part of Attendant in Handel’s Solomon conducted by Rene Jacobs with the OAE, Bach’s cantata Weinen, klagen, sorgen, zagen (BWV 12) at the London Bach Festival with the Steinitz Bach Players and a specially commissioned arrangement of Suo Gân with the Reading Phoenix Choir. He also appears as a soloist on a number of recordings including Sea Change, the award-winning Cambridge Singers recording of Richard Rodney Bennett’s choral music conducted by John Rutter. Ben is a founding member and manager of the professional close harmony group, Cappella Artois.
