Des kleinen Friedrichs Geburtstag K. 529
The year 1787 was one of Mozart’s most prolific as a song composer, and it was also the year that saw the completion of Don Giovanni. This song springs from that year, and is a simple strophic song, possibly written for a children’s magazine (the title translates as “little Frederick’s birthday”). The text is by Johann Eberhard Friedrich Schall, and the song is one of two written by Mozart on his sojourn in Prague in November of that year.
