Dima Bawab (soprano) was born in Amman in 1981, and started piano lessons at the age of four, later commencing studies in the French horn at the National Music Conservatory (Noor Al Hussein Foundation) in Amman. It was then that Dima decided to pursue a career in singing, and commenced vocal tuition with Svetlana Rabab'a. She moved to France in 2000, studying under Anne Fondeville Bleuse at the Conservatoire National Régional de Toulouse, where in 2004 she won the gold medal with distinction, by unanimous jury verdict. Since then Dima has been pursuing higher studies at the Conservatoire National de Danse et de Musique de Paris, studying with Peggy Bouveret.

During the last two years, Dima performed as part of the peace tour “Concerts for Life and for Peace”, in Bethlehem, Jerusalem and Rome, with the Orchestra and Choir of Bologna under the baton of Maestro Shlomo Mintz. In June 2006, she sang the rôles of Mme Herz in Mozart’s opera Der Schauspieldirektor and Fatime in Weber’s Abu Hassan.  She sang Morgana from Handel’s Alcina in collaboration with La Cité de la Musique in Paris, as well as the major role of Gloria in the world première of Jerusalem Follies by Franco-Palestinian composer Suleiman Al Qoudsi.
