Edward Tolputt (bassoon) plays regularly for a number of UK-based chamber groups, including Concertante and The New London Players; he is also a former member of the Southbank Symphony Orchestra, under the baton of Thomas Blunt. In May 2005, Edward was proud to participate in the debut performance of the outstanding Cambridge Three Tenors, two of whom are performing in this Festival. Edward is constantly looking for new ways to combine contemporary bassoon repertoire with new art media – to this end, he is a founder member of the art-pop combo Bassoons in the Mist, which fuses bespoke bassoon writing with off-the-wall performance comedy. Edward has made three previous trips to the Middle East, both as a bassoonist and as a singer, and is delighted to be making a fourth.
