Le nozze di Figaro overture K. 492
Mozart’s opera The Marriage of Figaro, written in 1785–1786, is arguably Mozart’s single greatest achievement, an opera so close to perfection for the difference not to matter. At the same time it is one of his best-known and most-loved works, and its distinctive overture is one of the most instantly familiar (and, arguably, most mis-used for commercial purposes) of all his compositions.
