Usually performed on piano, this gigue dates from  May 1789 and as its nickname suggests it was written in Leipzig. It stems from very happy times for Mozart, and was composed for Karl Immanuel Engel, organist of the Catholic palace chapel. It heralds Mozart’s fresh enthusiasm for the baroque style.
