Jenna Barghouti (violin) is a student at the Edward Said National Conservatory of Music, Palestine, where she studies with Adelheid Wünsche. She has been concertmaster of the Ramallah Orchestra (the first Palestinian orchestra post-1948) since its inception in 2003 and is also a founder member of the Palestine Youth Orchestra, which met for the first time in Jordan. Jenna is a member of the Maqamat Arabic Music Ensemble, Ramallah, and has also composed works for violin. In 2005 and 2006 she participated in specialised chamber music courses in the UK, under the auspices of Music Works, and she has been a first-prize winner in all three years of the Marcel Khalife National Music Competition – Palestine’s most prestigious music awards – in the latest two years competing in the highest string category.
