String Trio in E flat major K. 563
  1. 6th movement (Allegro), arranged for flute, clarinet and cello
This trio for strings is also called Divertimento, probably because of the arrangement of its movements (two rapid outer movements, with two slower movements alternating with two minuets), although it is a major work that has little in common with some of the frivolous divertimenti of earlier periods. It is Mozart’s only string trio, and really the first such composition for this assemblage of instruments in the classical period. He treats all three instruments as complete equals, for which reason it is often adopted by practitioners of other instruments (as here). It was completed in Vienna in 1788: this movement (the finale) is in rondo form and features folk-like melodies and daring modulations into the minor key.
